Taking your cue, coming to your mark, keeping to your key light, minding your eye-line, not crossing your line, etc. Lots of necessary stuff we tried not to bore you with in The Basics. But you need to know it. Plus more advanced Production and Camera work. We'll take them off the auto settings. So ISO, F Stops, Depth of Focus, Lighting, Movement, etc.

REPORTING:
TV, RADIO & PRINT NEWS
BEGINS Monday, October 1
Learn how to interview some-one and perhaps get them to tell you more than they meant to say.

Learn from a real Journalist how to get the story and get it out there on Radio, TV and in Print or rather on the Web Site. Though we are looking to eventually put out a hard copy publication.

The In-Tweens are our reporters. While what they do is not always serious, and they do get Slimed as often as any kid on our shows they do also get out and about with camera, microphone or notebook and report on real stories.

This course, as well as a Drama Course would equip you well to audition to be an In-Tween, though success is not guaranteed.

IMPROV
PREMIUM COURSE
BEGINS Saturday, September 29
Improv. (Making it up as you go along) is the very foundation of the acting style that we teach. Students learn to think on their feet and work cooperatively with the other actors in the scene. It is a huge help when they move on to working with scripts. They know to react and interact with the other actors, not just wait their turn to recite their line. Learning to act naturally is essential for acting in front of a camera. Being confident and open in speaking helps you not only for auditions but also verbal exams, job interviews, public speaking and just getting on in life.

SOCIAL MEDIA:
MARKETING YOURSELF ONLINE
BEGINS Monday, October 1
These days for anyone seeking real success in the public eye a very active presence on Social Media is an absolute necessity.

Young actors and singers in particular must have an active, energetic and frequent presence on social media.

If the child is under the age of 13 then a Parent really must manage the social media.

This course is therefore for parents and children. In the case of children under the age of 13 a parent must attend with them.

Perhaps Acting, Singing and getting doused with water and slopped with Slime isn't your thing and you are more interested i what goes on behind the cameras.

This course covers Cameras - Get to know all about Frame Rates, Shutter Speeds, F Stops, ISO, Filters, Depth of Field, Rule of Thirds, etc.

Lighting: How to light a scene - Key, Filler, Hair Line, Silks, Reflectors, Flags, etc.

Sound: It seems an odd thing to say but what sets a lot of professional video and film productions apart from amateur ones is not the picture or the lighting or even the acting but the Sound. Learn how the Pros record and use live sound, ambient sound, Foley and Music to make the difference.

Continuity: We have all seen it:- The actor has the drink in his left hand then suddenly in the next shot he is holding it in his right hand. Or the boy opens the door with his baseball cap on backwards and steps into the room with it the right way round. It jolts the audience and ruins the illusion by reminding them that none of this is real.

Editing: We'll cover it as best we can but really this should be and will be a course on its own.
BEHIND THE CAMERA - COURSES

PRODUCTION:
VIDEO EDITOR
BEGINS Monday, October 1
More than merely cutting between shots, though knowing when and how to make the cut is a skill and an art.
Nowadays the Editor can do so much more. They can add things to a scene which were not there, teeth gnashing Dinosaurs for instance, or holes in the ground or a UFO or a car crash or an explosion. And they can also remove things from the scene which should not be there, like the famous plastic water bottle in Downton Abbey which should not have been there, could have been removed, should have been removed and wasn't.
