"You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth...

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness."

                                           Kahlil Gibran

Amateurs when working with children often insist on "Being Professional" while having little or no understanding of what that means.

We have seen children in an amateur production being shouted at by the amateur director because they did not know their lines.

We never make a big deal about 'learning their lines'.

PROFESSIONAL VS. AMATEUR ACTING FOR CHILDREN

In fact we tell them not to bother, that the lines will naturally come into their head without effort. And usually they do.

Working Professionals understand that child actors are children first and foremost. A lot of care is taken to keep them happy on the set.

Amateur productions are frequently over rehearsed.

From the moment they were first handed a forty plus page script the children on You Can't Do That On Television had six hours or less of rehearsal before they went in front of the cameras to record the show. No-one ever shouted at them or lost their temper. Mistakes were laughed off and the whole experience was turned into a sort of game.

Subject to take-up we can offer a daily after school class for ninety minutes a day five days a week.

These kids will spend some of the time joining our regular classes and at other times work together on special projects perhaps making a music video, or a comedy show or a documentary.

The daily rate for this program represents the best value we have at $30 a day or $150 a week. The kids on this programme will end up very accomplished in acting and many forms of production.

AFTER SCHOOL
  • To act naturally and be convincing even when saying lines that have been written for them and doing things in an artificial environment.

Your children will learn

IMG_0013.jpg
  • They will know how to deliver a funny line and make people laugh.

  • They will look like they have no idea that Slime is about to fall on them from above, even when there is some-one standing on a ladder holding a bucket and about to tip it.

  • They will know how to say sad things with tears brimming in their eyes and make the audience cry along with them.

  • They will become professional actors.

  • From behind the camera they will  â€‹learn to shoot a scene that takes your breath away.
